Kern Carter was born and raised in Toronto where he was a highly recruited basketball player, following in the footsteps of his former NFL/CFL standout Kerry Carter. Growing up Kern was featured in numerous Toronto newspaper articles for his tremendous athletic talent featuring him winning countless tournaments both in Toronto and across the border. He was a very disciplined student-athlete always ensuring that his academic effort wasn’t affected by his extra-curricular responsibilities. As a result, Kern graduated from the basketball powerhouse Father Henry Carr Catholic Secondary School and received a full athletic scholarship to St. Bonaventure University in the state of New York.
Kern continued to thrive on and off the court and found a passion for writing while attending St. Bonaventure and after a great basketball career Kern decided that his passion for writing and storytelling was what he wanted to pursue and looking back he would not change a thing!
Kern is now a published author with two feature novels; Thoughts of A Fractured Soul and Beauty Scars. Both novels have been greatly received and his fans continue to follow his writing found on his own blog entitled ‘Cry’. He also has written numerous articles for Huff Post and Thrive Global. He has been featured in a few articles now not for his athletic ability but on the other hand for his creativity and talent behind the pen.
Some advice that Kern would like to share is to strive to build your confidence in whatever it is that you do and to never give up. He has never thought about giving up and will continue to write until it is physically not possible to do so.
