Stefania SdaoSpecial Event and Volunteer Manager
She thought about going into social work and teaching but she wasn't passionate about either of those. She decided the best thing to do would be to start volunteering to see what she actually liked. One of her volunteer roles was with an organization that worked with homeless youth where Stefania had the chance to work with the Event Manager. After a few weeks she fell in love with events and fundraisers!
Now Stefania works as a Special Event and Volunteer Manager at Barbra Schlifer Commemorative Clinic, a non-profit organization. She is responsible for organizing, preparing and coordinating all logistics for any special events and interviewing and managing the volunteers. She researches potential venues, manages the budget, and takes care of catering, A/V, promotion, site plans, agendas/speaking notes and post event reports. She also coordinates the administration of event gifts like, sponsorship and donations. In the past year, through various fundraising campaigns, Stefania worked hard to raise over $530,000!
Stefania has much to be proud of. Her passion for fundraising and event planning for a good cause has had a lasting effect. Her first fundraiser was Home for Life, a virtual home created by upcoming interior designers with donated items that were auctioned off as part of a silent auction for Eva’s Initiatives for Homeless Youth. She has been doubling goals in dollars raised, growing portfolios and has maintained amazing volunteer retention.
One of the biggest challenges that Stefania faces in her work, as do most non-profits, is how tough raising money can be. It gets harder year after year and can, at some points, be discouraging. But as long as you stay positive and organized, your goals are attainable with hard work and dedication! Stefania is living proof of that!
